President’s Message
Thank you for visiting our Website. Whether you are a new visitor or repeat visitor we very much appreciate you taking time to visit. There is a lot to do on our site, check events, shop in our store and join the Chapter as well.
As we move in to the Spring months, make sure you move trackside (being careful of course) to see what’s going on and if you’re taking pictures, keep in mind that today’s pictures are tomorrow’s history.
We’re very happy to announce the following events that you’re all invited to (more details can be found on the Event Calendar – Especially links of where to register for Zoom presentations).
As far as our meetings are concerned, we meet on the 4th Monday of the month (except May, which is the 3rd Monday due to Memorial Day). Meetings this Spring will be in person at the Audubon Senior Center and virtual via Zoom.
March 23 – WJC Member Russ Sharp returns to present a program on things that aren’t there anymore. The program starts at Cape May, NJ, with a PRR GP9 and ends with the PRR South Wind departing Chicago, with a lot in between!
April 27 – Fred Willis will present a program entitled "Early British Locomotive Development 1804-1829." In 1829 the first steam locomotive for American use, The Stourbridge Lion, arrived in the U. S. from Britain. Even though it was primitive, it was built on 25 years of locomotive development and knowledge. This program will describe the first 25 years of British steam locomotive development, when there was no industry knowledge to draw on.
May 18 – WJC Member Fred Ciocciola will present Part 1 of his program, Philadelphia potpourri. This meeting is the 3rd Monday in May on account of Memorial Day being on the 4th Monday.
We’ll have more meetings and activities. Check out our website, shop in our store, join the Chapter!
You can also follow us on Facebook and you can check out some of our programs on our YouTube channel.
We invite you to join us and if you wish, please reach out to us through the contact us section of our website. Thank you for your interest in the West Jersey Chapter – National Railway Historical Society.
